About Your New Job
As a Setting Out Engineer, you will be responsible for providing accurate measurements and precise positioning on-site to ensure the construction work aligns with the design plans. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and experience working on large-scale construction projects. You will work closely with site managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure that the project runs smoothly and is delivered to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set out and mark the position of structures and components on-site, ensuring accurate interpretation of design drawings and specifications.
- Carry out surveying duties using instruments such as GPS, total stations, and levels to establish reference points and elevations.
- Ensure the dimensional accuracy of all construction activities, including foundations, walls, columns, and other structural elements.
- Work closely with site managers and other engineers to resolve any discrepancies between the design and on-site execution.
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure that all work complies with building regulations and safety standards.
- Assist in preparing site reports, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Communicate with subcontractors and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Maintain site records and documentation for quality control and auditing purposes.
What Skills You Need
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on large-scale construction projects.
- Proficiency in using surveying equipment, including GPS, total stations, and levels.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, site safety protocols, and building regulations.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications with precision.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid Safe Pass and manual handling certificates.
