About your new job as a Senior Automation Engineer: This role involves supporting manufacturing processes and helping to develop and implement the manufacturing strategy within Global Engineering. A key aspect of this position is specifying, purchasing, and managing the deployment of new manufacturing solutions to meet customer product introduction requirements or improve operational efficiency.

Your duties as a Senior Automation Engineer:

  • Contribute to projects focused on new equipment processes and product introductions.
  • Support the development and execution of manufacturing strategies to meet customer and company needs.
  • Establish and manage project teams, define deliverables, prioritize tasks, and report progress to align with business and customer requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers and equipment suppliers to drive business, product development, process improvement, and ongoing development.
  • Manage equipment suppliers to ensure that deliveries meet specifications, costs, and timelines.
  • Ensure new equipment complies with regulatory, validation, health, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure new processes align with their requirements.
  • Identify, specify, and implement new manufacturing methods and opportunities within the company.
  • Represent the company in customer meetings to ensure business needs are met.
  • Assist in training and developing personnel on new processes or systems introduced to the company.

What skill/experience you need

  • A minimum of an NFQ Level 7 Degree in engineering or a related field is required, with a preference for degrees in Automation, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience is necessary.
  • Proficiency in both hardware and software components of PLCs and vision control systems is required, particularly with Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs and Cognex Vision systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Barcode Scanning, RFID systems, and Automatic Identification and Data Capture used in high-volume manufacturing is essential.
  • In-depth understanding of Industrial Network architectures (Ethernet IP, ControlNet, Profibus) with the ability to troubleshoot network issues is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of machine control systems, integrated manufacturing control systems (including MES and Batch Manufacturing), and experience with SQL databases is necessary; familiarity with GAMP 5 guidelines is advantageous.
