About Your New Job
As a Concrete Finisher, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality concrete work across various construction projects in Galway. You will be responsible for:
- Pouring, leveling, and finishing concrete for floors, sidewalks, curbs, and other structures.
- Preparing concrete surfaces for finishing by using tools such as trowels, power trowels, and floaters.
- Smoothing and leveling the surface of the concrete to ensure a perfect finish.
- Applying surface treatments to concrete, such as curing compounds or stains, to enhance durability and appearance.
- Working closely with site managers and other construction professionals to meet project specifications and deadlines.
- Ensuring that concrete work is done to the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Assisting with formwork, reinforcing steel installation, and concrete pouring when required.
- Reading and interpreting construction plans and blueprints.
- Maintaining cleanliness and safety on-site, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Handling and maintaining tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Completing daily work reports and ensuring all tasks are documented accurately.
What Skills You Need
The ideal candidate should have:
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Concrete Finisher, with a strong background in both residential and commercial projects.
- Up-to-date and valid safety certifications, including Safe Pass, Manual Handling, and any additional relevant certifications for concrete finishing work.
- Experience working with different types of concrete, including decorative and industrial concrete finishes.
- Proficiency in using finishing tools such as trowels, power trowels, and floaters.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of concrete mixing, curing, and finishing techniques.
- Solid understanding of health and safety standards and the ability to implement them on-site.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to achieve a high-quality finish.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in varying weather conditions and demanding environments.
- Full, valid Irish driving licence.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
